ATHENS-While the Philippine delegation returned yesterday with nothing to show after a fortnight of action in the 28th Olympic Games, its Southeast Asian neighbors, particularly Thailand, brought home a bumper crop of medals.
After the final day of action in the Games, the Philippines was again shut out of the medal board after coming so tantalizingly close in taekwondo on Saturday, the penultimate day of the Games.
Thailand, on the other hand, is enjoying its "best Olympics ever," according to a Thai broadcaster.
The Thais came home with seven medals, including three golds, one silver and three bronzes-good for 25th place overall in the medal standings and fourth-behind China, Japan and Korea-among Asian nations that vied in Athens.
Indonesia, too, is in the medal picture with four medals-one gold, one silver and two bronzes.
