PHILIPPINE National Police Director General Edgar Aglipay said the revamp of police offices will go on as scheduled this week despite the National Police Commission's directive to scrap the five new positions he had created.
Instead of establishing "area police offices" (APOs), Aglipay will create task forces, apparently to avoid the legal impediments identified by the Napolcom, the policy-making body of the PNP.
The task forces will function as the planned APOs, tasked to coordinate internal security matters among regional police offices under their jurisdiction, Aglipay said.
The task forces will be patterned after the area commands of the Armed Forces of the Philippines.
