SEOUL, Sept 1 Asia Pulse - South Korea's consumer prices climbed 4.8 per cent year-on-year in August, a government report said.
Prices of everyday goods and services increased 0.9 percent last month from July, and 3.6 per cent on an annual basis in the first eight months of the year, the National Statistical Office (NSO) said.
The relatively steep gains were attributed to hikes in agricultural and meat products as well as various public and private service charges, the state agency said. Consumer prices tend to rise more than usual in July and August, but this year's high crude oil prices were exerting additional pressure.
