Baht depressed by oil prices, falls to lowest in year.

Section: Currency - The baht fell to its lowest point in more than a year during early trade before closing at 41.67 baht, down 0.01 baht against the US dollar as importers bought dollars to pay for oil after the price dropped for a fourth day and the central bank said a resumption of a rally in the price of crude oil would hurt the economy.

"The economy's fundamentals are not so good because of high oil prices," said Chatchawan Jumruswittayawong, a trader at Bank of Ayudhya Plc (BAY).

"Importers are also buying dollars," weakening the baht, he said.
