Pretoria: The Department of Foreign Affairs on Friday [27 August] denied that South Africa has received an extradition request for Briton Mark Thatcher to Equatorial Guinea on charges that he helped plot and finance a coup to overthrow its government.

"Government has not received any request from the Equatorial Guinea government for the extradition of Mark Thatcher," Foreign affairs spokesman Ronnie Mamoepa said.
