Even with two blanks - one in each nine - William Tatua still went on to claim the top prize during the Nation Classic Mount Kenya regional qualifying round at Nyeri Golf Club's nine-hole course.

Tatua, who has won a number of events elsewhere this season, and is currently playing off 20 handicap, dropped shots at the first, third, fourth and seventh, scratched the eighth hole but saw a two-club at the ninth see him out, leaving him with 20 points in the first nine.

He holed a number of pars before blanking the tough par-five-12th hole. He followed that with a double-bogey at the stroke …
