Poultry-related stocks barely change despite drop in demand.

STOCK prices of poultry-related firms barely moved yesterday amid the recent sharp drop in demand for chickens and eggs following temporary stoppage of imports by certain countries after the bird flu reports.

The prices of chickens and eggs have dropped drastically amid the bird flu threat, causing the Federation of Livestock Farmers' Association of Malaysia to lose about RM3 million to RM4 million daily due to the drop in the prices of poultry and poultry products.

The current market price for 1kg of chicken is RM2 while an egg costs 10 sen to 15 sen.
