Universities and colleges in Pennsylvania are not providing equal athletic opportunities for women, according to a study released recently.

After a three-year study of 112 schools, the Women's Law Project found that while the percentage of female students remained at about 53% from 2001 to 2004, the percentage of athletic positions for women stayed at about 43%.

The financial analysis didn't show any better findings: large disparities in recruitment spending and scholarships. For actual athletic expenditures, men's sports rose from $111.3 million to $141.8 million during the ...
