The increase of reported recreational water illnesses has caused public health departments and pool facilities to step up their monitoring and maintenance. One sick individual is all it takes to infect hundreds, even thousands. Most recently, nearly 4,000 people were infected by a spraypark in upstate New York when cryptosporidium was released into the low-chlorinated water supply.
