Failure to fall
The number of private companies that failed during Q2 2004 fell by more than 12% compared with the previous year, according to Experian. A total of 4,118 companies failed during the last quarter, but administration orders jumped by 132% to 393 during the quarter from 169 a year ago.
Incomplete deals
Nearly all (95%) of midmarket deals fail to deliver their pre-deal expectations, according to Grant Thornton Corporate Finance. In more than 75% of cases, only 29% of VCs involved in midmarket deals have met their pre-completion expectations. Some 45% of respondents say their deals fail to meet expectations between 50% and 75% of the time.
