A doctor has come up with a new activity to add to the beach-going, movie-going and dining out on an overseas holiday - have a check-up.

With time on your hands, it's a good chance to have those tests that could detect a disease such as diabetes or high blood pressure, says cardiologist Patrick Ko Tak-him.

"Spending one hour out of the entire year at a doctor's office is worth 10 hours fooling around," said Dr Ko, former president of the Hong Kong College of Cardiology.
