The issue is the subject of accusations and counter accusations between two Sabah Barisan Nasional component parties - the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) and the Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP).
The opposition DAP has also joined the fray by lodging a report and calling on the Anti-Corruption Agency and the police to investigate.
