British Airways yesterday tabled an improved pay offer worth GBP1,000 for its staff in a bid to head off a strike over the August Bank Holiday weekend.

BRITISH Airways yesterday tabled an improved pay offer worth GBP1,000 for its staff in a bid to head off a strike over the August Bank Holiday weekend.

Union leaders were last night considering the proposed deal which gives workers the chance to earn GBP1,000 if there is a dramatic improvement in sickness absence. The money will be paid in three stages over the next two years if workers are absent for no more than 16 days over two years.
