For the gang of armed robbers that stormed the Habib Bank Nigeria Ltd that hot afternoon of the first Tuesday this month, nothing could be more soothing as the operation.
But for the Ilorin branch manager of the bank, the robbery incident was a bad one, a sad reception and an ominous welcome gift for him to the capital of the state of harmony as he assumed office there less than a week before the operation.
The short and long of it all is that armed hoodlums were in the recent time laying siege to the state capital, Ilorin, penetrating police security wall at will and carting away cash estimated at over N150 million in two bloody and deadly operations.
Barely three weeks to the ill-fated Tuesday operation, armed robbers attacked a bullion van, carrying large sums of money from one of the leading first generation banks in the state to Omu-Aran in Irepodun Local Government Area of the State.
