Team Seeks to Unlock Constitution Deadlock.

Kenya could have a new constitution in place within four months if the Parliamentary Select Committee has its way.

This is among recommendations reached by a sub-committee headed by PSC chairman William Ruto.

Although the Constitution of Kenya Review Commission had asked for 10 months extension, the sub-committee of seven MPs has proposed that the new constitution be ready within a maximum of 120 days, although the take off point has not been decided.

It has also made far reaching recommendations giving the PSC more powers over the review. Among the recommendations are that the review commission presents the Bomas draft constitution to Parliament directly - and not via the Attorney General Amos Wako as presently provided for …
