I believe you omitted a critical evaluation in your report on alternative decking: How hot do they get? I have a wooden deck in Rhode Island, and I can comfortably walk barefoot even after it has been in the 90-degree sun all day. But in my experience (admittedly anecdotal), at 80 degrees of more, plastic and composite decks are too uncomfortable to walk on barefoot after a few hours.
