CHINA, August 16, SinoCast -- Based on its broad user base, Tencent, the company behind QQ that is the most popular instant messaging software in China, has been catching up hand over hand in the cyber game market in China.

QQgame, an online game produced by Tencent in August 2003, has reached its 500,000 game players, which is getting closer to that of the six-year--old Ourgme.com, the largest cyber game platform in this country.

Tencent raised recently HKD 1.79 million by making public on the stock market of Hong Kong and poured huge amounts of the proceeds in cyber games.
