TWO China-trained Malaysians - gymnast Ng Shu Wai and Yuan Yufang - intend to raise their personal bars in Athens.
As the only outsider allowed to train alongside China's top-notch gymnasts, the 19-year-old Shu Wai is aiming at a top 10 finish in the all- round individual.
His Greek adventure begins tomorrow in the men's qualifying session at the Olympic Indoor Hall, which stands right next to the Olympic Stadium in Maroussi, 10km from downtown Athens.
"Having trained for an accumulated period of eight months in China, I think I have improved on my technique especially in the parallel bars, which is my weakest discipline," said Shu Wai, a finalist in the floor exercise of last year's World championships in the United States.
Of the six disciplines in the all-round individual - rings, parallel bars, floor exercises, pommel horse, vault and horizontal bar - Shu Wai has yet to score beyond 9.5 points in the parallel bars.
