THERE have been many cases of security guards killing bank robbers and one of the most celebrated cases was in May 2001 when Abdullah Mahmood gunned down three men who tried to rob the bank where he was guarding.
Abdullah, then 43, managed to kill a gunman while two others barely survived during a robbery attempt at the Southern Bank branch in Jalan Gasing, Petaling Jaya.
The fourth robber escaped on a motorcycle.
The robbers he had gunned down were later unmasked as members of the Kumpulan Militant Malaysia, part of a regional terror network.
