PRAGUE, Aug 1 (CTK) - Owner of the Casino Royal Assaf Abutbul, a son of Felix Abutbul killed in Prague two years ago, was to be the victim of the explosion in the pedestrian zone in the centre of Prague today.
Police have confirmed that an unknown offender intended to throw explosives into a car when several people were getting into it. However, the explosive fell down and exploded under the car.
Prime Minister and Interior Minister Stanislav Gross and the police have ruled out the possibility of the accident being a terrorist attack.
According to the police, the first classification of the event will be further specified. "However, it is clear that it is a crime of endangering of public safety and the possibility of an attempted murder is also being considered," Prague police spokeswoman Iva Knolova said today.
The case is being investigated by a special police team.
Maariv International said, referring to the Israeli police, that today's assassination attempt was aimed at murdering of Abutbul, one of the most powerful mafiosi in the country. However, his lawyers Avi Himi and Revital Sweid did not confirm the speculation to the daily.
