NEW DELHI, Aug 2 Asia Pulse - The index for mineral production (base year 1993-94_100) rose 6 per cent year-on-year in 2003-04 to 147, according to the annual report from the Department of Mines.
The report says that National Aluminium Company Ltd, a public sector unit (PSU) under the department, recorded net profit of Rs 7.356 billion (US$157 million) last fiscal. The company's mines, refinery, smelter and captive power plant have achieved the highest ever production since its inception.
