DAVAO CITY, Aug 2 Asia Pulse - The Philippine Long Distance Telephone (PLDT) company is more conservative now in putting new investments for their landline phone market in Mindanao.
Mario Encarnacion, PLDT Vice President for Mindanao, said the saturation of cellular phones in the telecommunications market and the emergence of the competition have created a dent in their landline phone sales.
"The growth of the landline business has stuck up," he said. "(Now) we are being more prudent in investing."
Encarnacion said they are putting a cap in their capital expenditure in Mindanao since the 14,000 available lines are still sufficient to cover any growth.
"With the three per cent growth annually, it will take long to cover that (14,000 lines)," he said.
But, he noted that the landline market is not really stagnating and, in fact, they opened up a service line in Elinita and Solariega ...
