S KOREA TO ISSUE CURRENCY BONDS WORTH US$1.7 BLN THIS MONTH.
SEOUL, Aug 2 Asia Pulse - The South Korean government plans to issue 2 trillion won (US$1.71 billion) worth of bonds in August to help stabilize the foreign exchange market, officials said Saturday.
The plan entails two separate issuances of 1 trillion won worth of currency stabilization bonds next month, the Ministry of Finance and Economy said.
As a result of the issuance, the total amount of currency bonds floated this year will rise to 10 trillion won. The total remaining amount of currency bonds in terms of won would reach 38.6 trillion won after the issuance.
