TORONTO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 30, 2004--Bombardier Aerospace announced today that ANA (All Nippon Airways Co. Ltd.) of Tokyo has placed its fifth order for the Bombardier Q400 high-speed turboprop airliner. ANA's additional order for two aircraft this time will increase its Bombardier Q400 fleet to 14 aircraft.
ANA's initial order for Bombardier Q400 aircraft was announced in October 2002. As of June 30, 2004, four aircraft have been delivered to ANA and these are currently operating on the Osaka-Kochi and Osaka-Matsuyama routes. ANA has announced that some of the aircraft scheduled for future delivery will be used for local routes from Central Japan International Airport (Centrair) which will open in the Nagoya area in February, 2005.
"The difference in flying time on these routes is about five minutes, and the operating cost of the Bombardier Q400 is significantly less than that of the jets," said Masao Nakano, Executive Vice-president, Marketing and Sales, ANA.
