Few cello compositions require a more accomplished performance than the Bach Suites, and in this case Peter Bruns does the material complete justice. The performance is superb and the sound is utterly detailed to the extent that you can sometimes here the performer breathing. This is close-up sound for the serious Bach enthusiast.

There is a proper sense of space around the performer, and the toed-in Dunlavy Cantatas (reviewed in Issue 87) in my middle system's newly enlarged listening room managed to keep the instrument well centered, even when listening a couple feet to the side of the preferred center axis.
