MLB should capitol-ize on the Expos' move.(Baseball)(Major League Baseball)
The relocation of the Expos is a rare opportunity for Major League Baseball, a batting practice fastball coming into the sport's wheelhouse. MLB could hit a home run by putting the team smack in the middle of the nation's capital. Or it could make a typically misguided decision, opting for a popup in northern Virginia or another ill-fated swing at a D.C. site where baseball has failed before.
The issue, as always, is money--how to extract the highest sale price, how to indemnify Orioles owner Peter Angelos, how to make the Expos as profitable as possible. A team in D.C. would hurt the Orioles, who play about 40 miles north, more than a team would in northern ...
