Sanchez, Bancod hurdle rivals, bolster chances.

FILIPINO International Master Joseph Sanchez and IM Ronald Bancod defeated their respective rivals to share 6th to 17th places after the seventh round of the XVI Open Cannes International Chess Championships yesterday in Cannes, France.
Sanchez and Bancod, who drew their sixth round game, beat French Pavel Govciyan and Eric Huin, respectively, to tally identical 5.0 points.
