PRESIDENT Macapagal-Arroyo has asked the country's most influential religious leaders to join an 11-member presidential commission that would "institutionalize" moral values in the government and file graft charges against corrupt personnel.
A Palace official, who declined to be named, said Ms Arroyo had invited Manila Archbishop Gaudencio Rosales, Iglesia Ni Cristo Executive Minister Era[currency]o G. Manalo, Jesus Is Lord leader Bro. Eddie Villanueva and El Shaddai leader Bro. Mike Velarde to join the Presidential Commission on Values Formation.
Ms Arroyo said the PCVF "shall be the lead agency by which government may work hand-in-hand with civil society and the private sector in the establishment of a strong foundation for moral values formation in the government bureaucracy."
The President also authorized the PCVF to file graft charges against corrupt government personnel.
"The PCVF shall make periodic recommendations to the President with regard to any duly supported and substantiated information on incorrigible and undesirable government personnel. Upon the written approval of the President, the PCVF may appear as the complainant in any case filed pursuant to such recommendations before the appropriate government agency," the President said.
