Byline: Luige del Puerto
A HAIL of bullets stopped retired SPO4 Bienvenido Ople from living his noble dream.
Ople, 57, was on his way to get the court order that would have placed him at the post of chairman of Barangay Ugong in Pasig City when two men gunned him down along with brother-in-law Virgilio Santos.
His driver, Antonio Macabangon, was wounded.
Earlier, on July 22, Judge Julia Reyes of the Pasig Metropolitan Trial Court ruled on the election protest Ople had filed, and declared him winner of the 2002 barangay polls in Ugong.
The judge also annulled the proclamation of current village chair Arnaldo S. Legaspi.
