PHILIPPINE Sports Commission chair Eric Buhain yesterday lauded the Philippine Olympic Committee and the Philippine Southeast Asian Games Organizing Committee for helping keep the country's SEA Games plans on track.

Buhain yesterday thanked POC president Celso Dayrit and members of the Philsoc for their cooperation in the preparations for the 23rd edition of the biennial sports event the country will again host after 14 years.

"We would like to extend our appreciation to Mr. Dayrit, as well as to the members of the Philsoc and POC for their cooperation and hospitality," said Buhain. "We in the government side, together with (Tourism) Secretary Obet Pagdanganan, welcome this sign of unity that will not only help ensure the success of the country's hosting of the SEA Games but also further the development of local sports.

"The SEA Games is a very large undertaking for the government, being part of our effort to show the best side of the Philippines. We feel it is our obligation, along with the POC, to the Filipino people to ensure its success," said Buhain.
