(From Philippine Daily Inquirer)

FREED BY his Iraqi captors on July 20, truck driver Angelo de la Cruz shared with the Inquirer his memories of his 17-day ordeal and his thoughts on the kind of life he is trying to live in his newfound freedom.

He spoke with Inquirer correspondent Tonette Orejas in Kapampangan in his home village of Buenavista, Mexico, in Pampanga.

De la Cruz said that during his captivity, he was locked in a room and his only contact with his kidnappers was through a man who brought him his meals. He said he did not see his captors face to face because they were not in the room where he was held and he was always blindfolded.

How are you now?

I'm OK. I have recovered a bit.

Since you returned home to Buenavista on Tuesday (July 27), how has your daily life been here?
