ST. PETERSBURG -- A month ago, a column in the Kansas City Star suggested the Rays have the kind of team the Royals would love: young, talented and full of potential.

As it turned out, a month later Kansas City has turned into Tampa Bay -- the old Tampa Bay.

The Rays completed a three-game sweep of the American League's worst team, getting a combined shutout from four pitchers in a 2-0 whitewash over Kansas City on Thursday before 10,084 fans at Tropicana Field.
