BUDGET airline AirAsia Sdn Bhd hopes to work with national carrier Malaysia Airlines to promote the country as an aviation hub.

AirAsia group chief executive officer Tony Fernandes said rather than set up its own low-cost airline, Malaysia Airlines should focus its attention and resources on strengthening its position in the full-fare segment.

He was commenting on yesterday's report quoting Malaysia Airlines managing director and chief executive officer Datuk Ahmad Fuaad Dahlan who said that the airline, if need be, could roll out a low-cost carrier within six months.
