KHARTOUM, July 25 (Xinhua) -- Sudanese President Omar Hassan al- Bashir said on Sunday that his government could resolve the conflict in Darfur through dialogue. "The Sudanese people and their government are capable of reaching a solution to the problem in Darfur through constructive dialogue," al-Bashir told reporters here.

According to UN figures, some 30,000 people have been killed and more than a million have fled their homes in the conflict. Rebels, who took up arms against the government in Darfur in February 2003, accused the government of arming the militias. The rebels suspended the African Union- mediated peace talks this month because the government did not meet their conditions for talks.
