Things have changed in the 40-odd years since Dionne Warwick sang "Don't Make Me Over." Plastic surgery is commonplace on prime-time TV, starlets seem to reinvent themselves weekly, and even inanimate objects (houses, cars, and NASA spacecraft) get the makeover treatment. We find the numbers that give meaning to the phrase "new and improved."
