TSN: At this time last season, you were buried on the Cavaliers' bench and seemingly on your way out of the league. Now you're starting for one of the best teams in the NBA. What happened?

DIOP: Opportunity. I didn't get any minutes in Cleveland.

TSN: Well, it's not like the Mavericks guaranteed you playing time when you signed. Something must be different.

DIOP: In Cleveland, they want the center to do a lot, on offense and defense. Here, my role has been more limited to what I do best--rebounding and defense.

TSN: How much did attending Tim Grgurich's camp for big men in Las Vegas last summer help you?

DIOP: It helped me be seen. I had lost a lot of weight going into that (about 50 pounds). The Mavericks saw me there. It's kind of funny because Cleveland wanted me to go and they paid my way. But they ...
