Hundreds of people came out last week to the Green Street Historic Church and Museum, Elsie Quirk Public Library and Lemon Bay Woman's Club clubhouse to celebrate Englewood's past at Lemon Bay Fest: Englewood History with Zest.

Marlene Demetriou, chairwoman of this year's programs at the library, said that the guest speakers and panels averaged about 30 to 40 people, with a program on Englewood's connection to the artist Paul Gauguin attracting more than 50.

Joe and Donna Viel said they tried to attend as many programs as possible. "It's a must every February," said Donna Viel. "Every year we learn something new."
