Feb. 8--OCALA, Fla. -- For Carol Harris, the runup in land prices in Marion County in recent years has been a good thing.
"It means that we did something smart. We bought land," she said.
Harris owns Bo-Bett Farm, a facility for thoroughbreds and quarterhorses.
Harris has no plans to sell her 100-acre farm. She considers the soaring land prices a mixed blessing for the horse industry locally.
"It has to help those of us that have already purchased land and own land," she said. "But for those of us that are just getting into it, I'm sure it is a very discouraging roadblock."
