Wisconsin lost four starters from last year's Elite Eight team, but the one it returned, junior forward Alando Tucker, has made sure the Badgers (tied for first in the Big Ten at 5-2) still are a force. He is averaging a team-best 18.7 points, plus 5.7 rebounds.
TSN: Wisconsin always seems to exceed expectations. What are the foundations of Badgers basketball?
TUCKER: We stay solid. We know what Coach Ryan expects. We have some specific principles. We stress help defense. The principles of our man defense are similar to a zone in that all five guys protect a certain area while we also are protecting our man. With our offense, the swing, everybody touches the ball. When you are moving the ball, that's when teams break down on defense and that's when we attack.
TSN: What's more difficult, going to a film session or one of your classes?
TUCKER: (Laughing) Well, I can tell you a lot of people are sweating before film sessions. They are intense. But no, coach tells us beforehand ...
