SIR: I was astounded by the short contribution of David Foster, "A Plea on Behalf of Eros" in the October issue. I have not read such an elegant, understated and sophisticated measure of thinking around the discussion on reconciliation. It is this type of inspired thinking that can take the Australian psyche through the adolescent sanctimony that it presently wallows in.

However, please let me extrapolate.
