] MINISTRY OF DEFENCE 030/2006 6 February 2006 SENIOR ROYAL NAVY APPOINTMENT

It is requested that the following senior appointment is released to the Press for publication not before Tuesday 7 February 2006:

Admiral Sir Jonathon Band KCB is to assume the appointment of First Sea Lord and Chief of the Naval Staff on 7 February 2006. He succeeds Admiral Sir Alan West GCB DSC ADC who was appointed on 17 September 2002.
