Feb. 1--Iraq war veteran Van Taylor began the year preparing for the March 7 Republican primary with more than nine times as much money as his opponent, former congressional aide Tucker Anderson, their campaigns reported Tuesday.
Taylor finished 2005 with nearly $628,700 in his campaign fund, posting a big lead over Anderson, who had $66,611 for his campaign.
Tuesday was the deadline for candidates to file reports with the Federal Election Commission. The Tribune-Herald obtained full reports from Taylor, Anderson and U.S. Rep. Chet Edwards, D-Waco, through the commission.
