Jan. 31--The Eagle has left its perch in Richardson. The Golden Eagle Restaurant, a fixture along North Central Expressway since 1958, suddenly closed its doors in December. When its furnishings go on the auction block today, a little bit of Richardson's past will be sold off to the highest bidder. The diner -- believed to be the second-oldest restaurant in the city -- wasn't big on decor, and its down-home cooking wouldn't catch the attention of a Zagat reviewer. But it was a popular gathering spot for almost half a century, and its demise has left a void for loyal customers.
