The year 2005 has been a challenging one for the traveling public, and likewise, a challenging year for us at Business Traveler.
With a lot of hard work and determination, we came back, at a time when some skeptics thought we might just go away. Now we are on the verge of doing things that nobody thought possible.
Business travel is booming around the world, despite the high price of oil, financial struggles at some major companies in the industry, and challenges from man and Mother Nature that have tested the best of us. We have stared them in the face, held our ground and come roaring back, better than ever before.
The signals are strong that business travel can once again be productive, efficient and downright fun. Big airlines are spending hundreds of millions of dollars to improve their business-class cabins. The government is working hard to make airport security checks more efficient and less intrusive. Hotel rooms are being designed not just for the individual traveler, but with the family in mind. Beds are plusher, work areas more functional and entertainment systems rival those of the best home theater.
