Euro 2004: Topped their qualifying group with seven wins and a draw. They beat Austria, Moldova and Belarus home and away and only dropped points away to Holland.
In Portugal they won all three group games against Lativa, Holland and Germany and then beat Denmark in the quarter-finals only to come a cropper in the semi-finals when the eventual winners Greece beat them courtesy of a 105th minute silver goal.
World Cup 2006: Finished five points behind runaway group winners Holland but one point ahead of third placed Romania. Finland, Macedonia, Armenia and Andorra were the other teams. Qualified for Germany after beating Norway 2-0 on aggregate, …
