Jan. 27--You might not know it from their fundraising numbers, but a half-dozen of the Dallas City Council's 15 members confirmed this week that they're either running for mayor next year or considering doing so.
It means the 2007 mayoral campaign is starting earlier, and potentially finds itself more crowded, than any such contest in recent memory. Mayor Laura Miller says she's "definitely running for re-election," dismissing lingering rumors to the contrary.
