SEOUL, Jan 26 Asia Pulse - Hyundai Motor Co. (KSE:005380), South Korea's top automaker, reported Thursday a better-than-expected 71 per cent jump in net income for the fourth quarter of last year, helped by brisk sales at home and abroad.
Hyundai Motor said it earned 657 billion won (US$677 million) in the three months ended on Dec. 31, up from 385 billion won a year earlier. The profit result slightly exceeded a general market consensus of some 650 billion won.
Operating profit for the quarter, however, fell 2.4 per cent from a year ago to 336 billion won. Sales rose 7.6 per cent to 8.1...
