The end of 2005 and the start of 2006 were busy times for the reinsurance market, as it coped with a series of ratings changes and capital raisings. A summary of the high, low (and lower) points follows.
AM Best has granted new Bermudian reinsurance start-up Lancashire Re a financial strength rating of A- (excellent).
AM Best has assigned a financial strength rating of A- (excellent), and an issuer credit rating of a-, to new Bermudian reinsurer Hiscox Insurance Company (Bermuda).
New Bermudian start-up Amlin Bermuda has been given an insurance financial strength rating of A2, with a stable outlook. The rating is a notch below that of parent company Amlin.
Scottish Re has had its financial strength rating of A- (excellent) affirmed by AM Best.
Standard & Poor's (S&P) has given Flatiron Re a counterparty credit rating of BBB-, and has assigned a stable outlook to the company.
