THE relatively mild weather and slightly longer evenings have reignited a glimmer of spring. Signs of spring can be seen with the emergence of daffodils and the renewed growth of later sown wheat over the last ten days. Growers with early land will be anxious to get planting as soon as the ground conditions improve.

The Department of Agriculture published the Spring Cereals Recommended list for 2006 recently. There are a few changes worth noting on the spring wheat recommended list. This list tends to remain relatively constant, where varieties feature on the list for many years.
