The judge who has been nominated to replace Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor--now that Harriet Miers has withdrawn--is Judge Samuel A. Alito. Critics describe him as opposing Title IX and the Roe v. Wade decision that guarantees pregnant women the right to choose abortion.
